Teaching Reading And Writing

Learning to read and write are among the most important lessons a child will learn. These will be what begins there journey into world of understanding the material to be presented to them throughout their life. Reading is an activity that many adults were unable to accomplish as children and are now facing extreme difficulties in the world around them.

Children with a difficulty in learning to read will need to be taught in a proficient and careful manner. When a child is skilled in reading and writing they are more excited and passionate about pursuing the interest. It is necessary in the art of teaching and learning to read to break the process down into separate components that will all be joined as one.

To fully understand what is being read, the words should be understood. To accomplish this they will need to broken down into separate sounds. A child will need to be taught the steps in breaking up a single word into a group of sounds and then to pull each sound together to form a word. Being aware of the breakdown of the word is a crucial aspect of reading. A child experiencing difficulties with this process will have a high risk of poor reading.

Writing and reading go hand in hand and a child must learn one to know the concept of the other. A teacher will be responsible for teaching the child early basics including the alphabet, the sounds each letter makes and the sound of two letters together. As the child ages they will be accustomed to seeing the letters, knowing the sound and with practice have the ability to quickly recognize the sound the word should make.

As a teacher it is important to know the Childs ability, their experience in written words and their understanding of the word. Reading to a child is very important as an encouragement of what they will be able to accomplish when they begin to learn. Children will be subjected to words in nearly every place they visit with a caregiver. The caregiver should be aware of where the child is in the process in order to continue the education at home without the child even knowing they are learning.

For example, while at the market a parent aware of the sounds the child is being taught by the teacher, would be able to locate items in the store with the sound. When the child is able to recognize that bread has the br sound, it will become an association. Association is a large part of learning to read and write. The simplest tool a teacher has is a picture of an item that will be broken down to sounds and recognizable words.
