The SAT is standardized test for students who plan on entering college. SAT used to stand for Scholastic Aptitude Test, but it has since changed to SAT Reasoning test, or simply the SAT. One section of the test is the math section. This section is divided into 2 sections, One, and two.
The SAT math problems and the skills necessary to take the test are very basic. Any student who has taken the necessary courses in high school and early, such as basic math skills ( additions , subtraction, multiplication and division) as well as algebra 1, and 2, and geometry, and understands the lessons, should do well on the SAT math test. This does not mean the test is easy, but if a student has mastered these math skills, they should fare well on the test. The sat math problems are not designed for the math students, who plan on majoring in this subject. It is structured so that all students well be on an even playing field. No matter if you major in math, science, English, or history.
Although the math problems are in a basic formation, and has a simple solution, it still may require some ingenuity for the student to come up with the solution. Just because a student did well in calculus and advanced algebra in high school, this doesn't mean they will find this test easy. It will require more thinking on the student's part to come up with the right answer. The math problems on the Sat are divided into 2 sections. The students will have a time period to finish each section. The problem difficulty is in ascending order. The easiest questions are early on, and they get harder as you progress through the test. Although having the math skills is necessary, just remember the test is designed to test your ability to solve problems, not to test your math knowledge.
Student is allowed to use a calculator to solve the math problems. Some questions will not require the use of a calculator, and some will. Students are advised not to over use the calculator because this may slow you down, and it may not even be necessary on certain questions. It's important that the students take each math problem in order. It's best not to finish the last few questions then to get the wrong answers, by answering too quickly.
