French Summer Classes

One of the best ways to learn any language is to practice it on a daily basis. If you enroll in a high school or college language class in French, Spanish or any other language the chances are that the class will not meet on a daily basis. In high school there may be daily classes for an hour, but these classes only last for one term and then the students are not required to take any more of these classes. Amid the entire math, science, sports and other subjects, the language class is not likely to receive much attention from the students. In college, the classes meet either two or three times per week. Many students do not have the opportunity or take the opportunity to practice their new language in between classes. Often the classes themselves are instruction base with very little actual oral practice of the language by the students. Some sort of lab may supplement these classes but these are often not required and college students always have something better to do than go to a lab!

French summer classes, on the other hand, offer an emersion experience that is hard to beat for the most effective way to learn the language. These classes are usually offered in two concentrated terms during the summer. The first term is the introductory beginning class and the next term the more advanced class will meet. Unlike the traditional school term, French summer classes will meet for a minimum of two hours each day and sometimes longer depending on the school and specific class. These extended French summer classes meet five days per week for the entire term. If a student takes both concentrated summer terms they will have a concentrated and lasting experience with the new language learned in their French summer classes.

French summer classes can be found at colleges, universities and at local organizations. In larger cities there are often extended education opportunities for adults who feel that they have missed something by not learning another language. French summer classes are taught on a daytime and nighttime schedule so that those working full time can attend. Additionally, the French summer classes will include supplemental materials that the students can use at their computer to practice vocabulary and pronunciation.
