Christian Counseling Degree Online

The Christian Counseling Degree online has its curriculum requirements which differ from other online schools. Most of the course program relates more to religion, although some secular courses are included. Such an online degree program consists of biblical, theological, and psychological education. This degree merges present day psychological knowledge with behavioral standards set to Biblical principles.

The degrees in Christian Counseling include an Associate, Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate. The Associate degree consists of a 60 credit program with a focus on Christian responsibilities. The associate degree curriculum will also include classes in psychological communication as well as Old Testament and New Testament classes (which are also requirements for higher degrees).

The Bachelor degree consists of a 120 credit program with classes in Biblical knowledge, leadership, psychology, and life skills. In the Master degree, classes include death/dying, ethics and counseling law, substance abuse, world religions, and a master level thesis. The highest level of education in the Christian counseling field is the Doctorate degree, which includes those theoretical concepts which are relevant to Christian counseling. All these degrees will also include applications in real life counseling.

Depending on the Christian Counseling degree, the following careers are included: Director of Worship; Youth Counselor or Pastor; Pastoral Assistant; Director of Church Services; Christian Counselor; and Christian Missionary. All degrees have an identical goal--to help the individual with such issues as: relationship dysfunctions; disturbing emotions, such as hurts, anger, depression, etc.; and coping with stress/anxiety. Each of these issues will be handled according to a Biblical and psychological insight along with practical applications in real life situations.

There are several online Christian schools that offer these degrees. Each school has its tuition plus registration fee. In one, the cost is approximately $400 per course for undergraduate courses and for graduate level courses, $500. Textbooks will be a separate expense. Another online school course costs $299 with an additional $13 for shipping/handling of necessary textbooks and DVDs. Some courses require 45 or 20 clock hours, depending on the course. The Christian Counseling degree online program can be taken one class at a time or several classes, depending on the online student. There are also schools which offer payment plans, scholarships, and federal financial aid. The salary range of a Christian counselor will range from $20, 000 to $75,000 depending on degree earned and place of employment.
