Try Ten Things - Month 2
We are on “Try Ten Things” - Month 2!
If you missed the first thing you can go back and see it here.
MONTH 2 - March - NEW THING: Chatzy
This is a free, online, private chat service. You can create a chat room instantly - only for you and the people you invite. There isn’t anything to download or install and there are no pop-up ads. It’s not fancy, but it’s not meant to be.
You can set up either a chat session (IM style) or a private, password-protected chat room. Customize it and invite others! They don’t even need to give their emails.
It is free, but for $9.00 (a one-time charge) you can remove banner ads, get more space and add logging. Sounds like a bargain if you are going to use it all the time.
There is an extensive FAQ and also a blog for more info. The blog is even a chat!
I would love to know if this is blocked (filtered) for schools, public libraries, special libraries, etc….. how might you use this? If you sign-up and try it, how easy to use it? They claim to be very simple and easy. Does this have advantages/disadvantages over other forms of “chat” or online communicating?
If you want to try it out with me - let me know - I set up an account.
I also created a virtual chat room called Trial - the password is CJRLC - all caps. Feel free to check it out - you have to go here I believe. Let me know if it works, etc.!
Apparently, some similar things (though not the same and not looked-into by me) are Chatango and Vyew.
Can you find any others? Better? Worse?

Vyew provides chat, web conferencing and always-on collaboration on digital content. You can upload any kind of digital content into a shared workspace for collaboration together with meeting participants in real time or independently at any time.
Amy- I just tried Chatzy on my school computer and it is blocked. We use Smartfilter, in case you were wondering.
Amy, Chatzy is blocked on my school computer.
