Wireless Project for Public Libraries

October 5, 2005

Dear CJRLC Public Library Director: Opportunity is Knocking!

Imagine: Your customers walk into the library and know that there is a convenient wireless Internet connection available for their use. Imagine if all residents in the CJRLC region had the same experience at their public library. CJRLC offers to help make this vision a reality.

In a time when wireless networks for customer access are promoted everywhere, including Starbucks, book stores, airports, and hotels, CJRLC and the New Jersey State Library would like to see wireless networks for customer access in every public library AND we'd like our customers to know that we have them!

As announced in our October 2005 newsletter, CJRLC has matched $15,000 in funding from the State Library so that we have $30,000 to subsidize public libraries in becoming wireless hotspots. As soon as we know the full complement of libraries positioned to take advantage of this project, we will be able to identify the exact level of subsidization. Our initial plan is to use the funding to assess, implement, test and publicize your access.

To get things rolling, please come to an organizational meeting at the CJRLC Office on Wednesday, October 26th from 9:30 to 10:45 am OR from 11:00 am to 12:15.

Alisa Khaitan of Zenith Resources will be available at the meeting to answer your wireless technical questions. Do you already have a wireless network for your customers? Come share what you know. Administrators and technical staff are welcome.

A Facility Assessment Survey is included with this invitation.
Fax your completed survey by October 18, so we can jumpstart the planning process.

Preliminary Wireless Facility Assessment
Please Fax to CJRLC by 10/18/05 (732-409-6492)

Your timely response to this preliminary survey will help CJRLC jump start plans for the Wireless Access Project for those public libraries that currently do not offer wireless for library customers. Please answer all possible questions so we can review it before the meeting on October 26th. Leave blank what you can't answer. Thank you very much.
